KOTA KINABALU – A new low-risk Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centre was opened today at the Sandakan Temporary Detention Centre, which houses illegal immigrants.

Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said with the latest facility, which has 500 beds, all such centres in the state have 6,097 beds.

“With Covid-19 hospitals having 1,007 beds, the state now has a combined total of 7,104 beds in hospitals and low-risk centres, with only 31.7% used for treating patients in the state.

“Sandakan recorded 74 new cases out of the 290 reported in Sabah today, which is the second-highest after Kota Kinabalu (90),” he said in a statement.

He said compliance with health and safety standard operating procedures among Sandakan folk is at 98%, ranking 12th among the state’s 19 districts.

Kinabatangan, Sipitang and Kota Belud have the highest compliance levels at 99%. – Bernama, November 29, 2020
