KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional was a “mischievous scheme” plotted by Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Pejuang hits back in supporting founder Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Pejuang information chief Ulya Aqamah Husamudin, in a Facebook post yesterday, slammed Azmin, accusing the former PKR deputy president of misleading the public.

This follows Azmin’s interview with The Star yesterday, in which he was quoted as saying that the idea of PN came from Dr Mahathir in order to remain prime minister with the support of all MPs.

The Pakatan Harapan administration led by Dr Mahathir was toppled in late February, and PN subsequently took federal power.

Muhyiddin was appointed prime minister.

Ulya Aqamah said Azmin “should stop lying” over how PN “grabbed power” by giving the impression that Muhyiddin commanded majority support in Parliament.

“The idea of PN was nothing but a mischievous scheme plotted by Azmin and Muhyiddin. A few days before the PH presidential council's final meeting, Azmin revealed that there were plots to overthrow Dr Mahathir.”

However, during that meeting, what Azmin had foretold did not come to pass, said Aqamah.

“PH agreed to give its full support to Dr Mahathir and had a proper transition plan discussion. Azmin didn't walk out during the meeting. The press conference after the meeting was harmonious and united.

“Dr Mahathir pointed that Azmin’s allegations were wrong during the Bersatu supreme council meeting, and that it didn't make sense to leave PH when PH was supporting (Dr Mahathir) 100%.

“Muhyiddin still tried to push his agenda and convince Dr Mahathir he will still be the PM with PN, but this was met with opposing arguments from Mukhriz (Mahathir), Syed Saddiq (Syed Abdul Rahman) and myself.

“Dr Mahathir then told Muhyiddin to call off any plans of meeting with the palace, Azmin’s faction, Umno and PAS, which was pre-planned by Muhyiddin without consent,” said Ulya Aqamah.

He added that Muhyiddin and Azmin continued the ploy that led to the Sheraton move.

“Having lost command of his own party due to the betrayal of Muhyiddin as president, Dr Mahathir saw that – with or without his consent – Muhyiddin and Azmin would still continue to overthrow PH.

“He didn’t want to break his promise for a transition and didn't want to be part of the notorious Sheraton move, so he resigned as prime minister.

“The rakyat will never forgive you (Azmin) for what you have done. The cause of this political instability is because of the greed of Azmin and Muhyiddin,” Ulya Aqamah said. – The Vibes, November 30, 2020
