KUALA LUMPUR – Kota Raja lawmaker Mohamad Sabu has initiated legal proceedings against Harakahdaily over an article it published.
Following the writ of summons filed in the Kuala Lumpur High Court on October 28, Mat Sabu named Galeri Media Serbanika Sdn Bhd (the company that runs Harakahdaily portal), along with writer Roslan Shahir and editor Wan Nordin Yaacob as defendants.
In his statement of claim, Mat Sabu referred to a Harakahdaily article that was written on September 14, titled “Husam: PAN parti diktator” (Husam: PAN is a dictator’s party).
The article alleged that Datuk Husam Musa left Parti Amanah Negara because president Mat Sabu behaved like a dictator, and was quoted as saying: “The party was a one-man show that was conducted by Mat Sabu with strong support and guidance from DAP.”
Mat Sabu in his statement of claim said the contents of the article clearly referred to him and was false.
He said the defamatory words used were done in bad faith with the intention to tarnish his reputation.
He has claimed against all defendants damages as well as an apology and retraction on Harakahdaily's portal and an injunction preventing the defendants from making further defamatory statements about him. – The Vibes, November 30, 2020
