PUTRAJAYA – The new fee for a statutory declaration (SD) and the exhibit within the document has each been increased from RM4 to RM10 effective January 16.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reforms) Datuk Seri Azalina Osman Said said the government has agreed to review the fee for an SD under Section 4 of the Statutory Declarations Act 1960 (Act 783).
The last time the SD fee was reviewed was on March 4, 1993, almost 30 years ago through the P.U.(A) 78/93 gazette, which was RM4 for an SD and RM2 for exhibits within the document.
Azalina said the government had decided to review the fee after taking into account the country’s economic growth, inflation rate, increases in operational cost and commissioners for oaths appointment costs, and fee comparison with that of other countries.
“The new fee was set after a careful study carried out by the government with the stakeholders and Pertubuhan Gabungan Pesuruhjaya Sumpah Malaysia,” she said in a statement today. – Bernama, January 13, 2023
