KOTA KINABALU – Parti Warisan Sabah will honour its pact with Pakatan Harapan, but is concerned about the credibility of opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said the Wirawati deputy head.
Jo-Anna Sue Henley Rampas, in a statement yesterday, said the party will continue its political cooperation with PH and other opposition members, but reiterated the need for the bloc to have a credible and principled chief.
“We still honour the political pact between Warisan and PH/Upko (United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation), but our concern is the lack of credibility on the part of Anwar Ibrahim and his capability to deliver that may cause PH voters to feel disillusioned.
“Warisan cannot continue to allow itself to be used for someone else’s personal agendas without benefiting Sabah at all. As a matter of principle, it is only apt that the party makes its stand known, and not when the election is around the corner.”
She said the party will not cooperate with Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional to keep Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in power, as they have caused a lot of difficulty for Warisan.
“Firstly, Bersatu backtracked on its pledge not to set up a branch in Sabah. Secondly, right after the collapse of the PH government in February, Bersatu incessantly pressured (Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd) Shafie Apdal and other party leaders to submit to PN.
“The grand finale was their devious and cowardly attempt to topple the Warisan Plus state government in July.
“So, if there is anyone who would be happy to see Muhyiddin have a taste of his own medicine, it would be Warisan Plus.
“My advice to national PH leaders who never went through what Warisan did, but is now accusing us of aligning with PN, is, better watch their mouths.”
She said the exemplary commitment and dignity displayed by Warisan MPs under Shafie’s leadership allowed them to resolve several crucial issues relating to Sabah.
“Last Thursday, during the committee-stage debate on the Supply Bill 2021, Warisan MPs voted for the motion tabled by Upko because Warisan MPs are under a moral obligation to vote on motions relating to Sabah, and secondly, Upko is steadfast in preserving its existing cooperation with Warisan.
“And during the policy-stage debate on the Supply Bill 2021, Warisan MPs delivered two crucial improvements to the bill – an increase in Covid-19 allocation by another RM50 million, and a review of the housing allowance for Sabahan officials working for the federal government in Putrajaya, both of which have been included in the bill.
