KUALA LUMPUR – The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at the Seremban prison and its adjacent prison quarters has been extended to December 21. The order was supposed to expire today.

The 14-day extension is needed as there are 185 screening samples awaiting results, said Senior Security Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri in a statement today.

“Up until December 4, the Health Ministry has done 1,582 screenings with 964 Covid-19 cases recorded in the prison, involving inmates and prison staff.”

Also announced was the ending of the EMCO at Kg Sabah Baru in Lahad Datu, Sabah today, as scheduled, which was first enforced on November 10.

“The Health Ministry has confirmed that there are no more samples pending results and until now, a total of 2,054 screenings were done and a total of 382 positive cases have been recorded in this particular locality,” he said.

Meanwhile, the government has, from April 20 to December 6, done a total of 13,801 inspections at 7,930 construction sites across the country. – The Vibes, December 7, 2020
