GEORGE TOWN – The Penang Island City Council (MBPP) Treasury Department office is closed for three days beginning today after an employee tested positive for Covid-19.

MBPP, in a statement, informed that sanitisation processes were carried out at 7.30pm yesterday at the Treasury Department office on the 15th floor of Komtar, surau, toilets, counters and places that are visited by many.

“We received a call from a Treasury Department employee at about 5pm yesterday who informed us that he was positive for Covid-19.

“He was last present at the office on December 4, and was given permission to work from home on December 7 after his son tested positive for Covid-19.”

It said that the management has submitted the names of 15 other employees who had close contact with the patient to the Penang Health Department.

“Today, 10 employees have been called to undergo screening tests, the rest will be called in the near future.

“The identified close contacts were instructed to work from home until further instructions.”

The statement added that sanitisation has been carried out at the MBPP revenue division yesterday to ensure that MBPP services are not disrupted.

“We encourage the public to use existing online services to deal with MBPP.” – The Vibes, December 10, 2020
