KUALA KANGSAR – Five members of Perak's executive council (exco) were today sworn in before Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.

Of the five excos, only Bersatu’s Sg Manik assemblyman, Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin, was a new face, while the others had already served as exco members in the previous administration of former menteri besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

The other excos sworn in today are Lintang assemblyman Datuk Mohd Zolfakly Harun, Rungkup assemblyman Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya, Kampong Gajah assemblyman Datuk Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Noording and Bota assemblyman Khairul Shahril Mohamed.

All four are from Umno.

For the time being, no PAS exco has been appointed.

Earlier, Kota Tampan assemblyman Datuk Saarani Mohamad was sworn in as Perak’s 14th menteri besar.

Under the Perak constitution, the administration can only be formed when there is one menteri besar and at least four excos.

During the swearing-in ceremony, Sultan Nazrin had told off politicians, saying their failure to lead effectively had resulted in the state seeing three menteris besar since the 14th general election.

He advised them to stop their political shenanigans and focus on working for the people who elected them. – Bernama, December 10, 2020
