MIRI – The Sarawak governor’s office has denied rumours circulating online about present head of state Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud’s health.
His private secretary, Junih Salleh Ahmad, said Taib, who is a former chief minister, is in good health.
“Astana Sarawak would like to assure all that Yang Dipertua Tun Taib is well.
“We would like to assure that any viral and unverified news on Tun Taib’s wellbeing, namely that which did not come from Astana Sarawak, are all fake and untrue,” he said in a press statement today.
Astana Sarawak hopes that the rumours being circulated will be stopped immediately, he added.
Taib held the chief minister post for over three decades from 1981 to 2014.
His tenure has made him the longest-serving head of government of a Malaysian state.
Additionally, he served the Kota Samarahan constituency for 38 years from 1970 to 2008, making him the nation’s second longest-serving MP. – The Vibes, June 22, 2023
