BUKIT MERTAJAM – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today urged Malaysians not to be presumptuous when evaluating the issues facing the country.

During his visit to Penang today, he said the people must learn to weigh issues more carefully and listen to both sides before reaching a conclusion.

“We need to hear out both sides and listen to rational arguments before we decide,” he said during his visit to the Guar Perahu Mosque in Permatang Pauh in conjunction with the Hari Raya Adiladha celebrations.

Anwar said reason is needed so that people will not swallow “slander” spread by irresponsible politicians.

The prime minister advised politicians to be responsible when promoting their cause.

“They should stop the slander and focus on constructive criticism.”

He added that he does not mind criticism as long as it is “valid and objective”.

“I may have shortcomings, and I am willing to accept input and recommendations to improve, but please stop slandering the government.

“There is a need to be fair to all parties,” the Tambun MP said.

Anwar added that “unlike a former leader”, he is giving aid – in the form of infrastructure upgrades – to all community-based religious schools. He did not name the former prime minister. – The Vibes, June 30, 2023
