KUALA LUMPUR – Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) will provide checks and balances to ensure government policies are implemented in the best possible way.

President Datuk Ibrahim Ali said this was among the motions tabled at the party’s first annual general meeting for the 2020-23 term, adding that it will also serve as Putra’s 15th general election manifesto.

“Putra will be firm in ensuring that the implementation of national policies and laws does not contain elements of leakage, malpractice, corruption and abuse of power, not only among political leaders, but also civil servants.

“We will continue our fight to limit the tenures of the prime minister, deputy prime minister, ministers, menteris besar and excos to only two terms.

“It will ensure checks and balances, and integrity,” he told reporters after the AGM, held here, today.

The meeting was attended by only 250 senior party leaders, in compliance with standard operating procedures to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Another proposal tabled was for the party to continue to push for the creation of a law to protect the sanctity of Islam as the religion of the federation, and uphold the sovereignty of the institution of the Malay rulers. – Bernama, December 12, 2020
