KUALA LUMPUR – A homeowner in Damansara Damai was detained today for assaulting two policemen on duty.

Petaling Jaya police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said in the 2am incident, police received a complaint of somebody running amok at a residence in the area and despatched two policemen to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the policemen called on the house occupant, who is a local man, but the man acted aggressively by throwing plates in their direction. The 48-year-old suspect was also waving a cleaver and hammer at the policemen on duty,” he said in a statement today.

Nik Ezanee said the two policemen were left with minor cuts and bruises after struggling to arrest the suspect, adding that both officers were later treated at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.

He said further investigations found that the suspect has more than five records of criminal and drug cases.

The suspect has been remanded for four days and the case is being investigated under Section 353 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955. – Bernama, December 12, 2020
