KUALA LUMPUR – Despite a possible attempt on her life yesterday, lawyer-activist Siti Kasim has vowed to press on with her work.
She told her followers she was worried and a little “shaky” following the incident, but would still continue her trip to Kelantan as planned for a court appearance on Monday.
“Nothing is going to stop me and I will still be going.
“I have to be there to support my Orang Asli friends and help them,” she said in a video live stream.
The case concerns a negligence suit by the families of seven Orang Asli children who ran away from a hostel at SK Pos Tohoi in Kelantan.
Four of the children who ran away on August 23, 2015 died before they were found.
Siti is the first witness in the case during its four-day hearing at the Kota Baru High Court.
Yesterday, before travelling to Kelantan, she took her car to a workshop in Bangsar to be serviced.
The mechanic there later alerted her that there was a suspicious-looking device near the rear wheel of her Toyota Celica.
Police had since said the device was likely an improvised explosive device.
Police have since retrieved and detonated the device and are investigating.
Siti has since described those responsible as “inhuman”.
She said all she has been working for was for the betterment of the country and hoped those responsible would be arrested.
