GEORGE TOWN – Police here have seized an assortment of drugs worth some RM136,000 on the black market.
A coordinated operation by the anti-narcotics division of the Royal Malaysia Police also nabbed two suspected traffickers and drug producers.
Penang police chief Datuk Khaw Kok Chin told a press conference that the operation began on Friday evening with police raiding premises in Nibong Tebal, Penang and Bandar Baru Kulim, Kedah.
They arrested the suspects in one of the premises before recovering a cache of drugs at another location.
Both suspects also tested positive for drugs.
The drugs seized were in 25 plastic bags of substances believed to include heroin and syabu, Khaw said, adding that such an amount is usually for around 22,000 users.
Khaw said the suspects are remanded for seven days and that the case is investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, where they could face mandatory life imprisonment.
