KLANG – Former senator Datuk Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor is trying his luck in the upcoming Selangor state election as a Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) candidate in Selat Klang.
The seat will see a three-cornered fight with the other two contenders being Datuk Roslee Abd Hamid (Barisan Nasional) and incumbent Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari (Bersatu).
All three filed their papers at the Klang Land and District office which served as the nomination centre this morning.
Ezam has had a rather colourful political journey which included being Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s political secretary at one time. He was also among the key figures in the early Reformasi days. Prior to that, in the mid-90s, Ezam was in Umno.
He rejoined Umno in 2008 and moved to Bersatu in 2016. He also had a brief stint in Berjasa and is now the deputy president of PRM.
In the 15th general election last year, Ezam contested in the Petaling Jaya constituency but lost to PKR’s Lee Chean Chung.
He was appointed senator in 2010 and resigned in 2014. – The Vibes, July 29, 2023
