BUKIT MERTAJAM – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is confident that Malay voters will make a practical and wise choice when deciding on who they will support in the elections in six states on August 12.
The finance minister said that unlike in previous elections, the Malay electorate are now better informed about what is transpiring in the country.
So he is hoping that they, together with the other voters such as from the Chinese and Indian communities, vote wisely in the polls.
The six states holding elections are Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.
Speaking during a whirlwind rally circuit last night in Karpal Singh Drive, Air Itam, Sg Ara, and Permatang Pauh, the Pakatan Harapan chairman reminded voters not to be misled by the fake and negative narrative which he claimed was promoted by the opposition.
He said that the voters need to double-check the claims made. As these parties have run out of capital to an extent, they are now dwelling on fake news to spread their ill-intent to mislead the nation for political mileage, he claimed.
Anwar said that the national unity premise is the best formula forward after the country was laid under siege due to more than three years of political instability.
He reminded the voters that the national unity concept did not come from politicians but from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. With all his wisdom, the king felt that bringing together the warring factions was the best solution for the country after the last general election.
Using Thailand as a comparison, Anwar pointed out that the northern neighbour still cannot appoint a prime minister due to intense political infighting several weeks after its general election.
Such a situation creates doubt and uncertainty, especially among foreign investors, he said.
Therefore, Anwar spoke of the importance of cementing stability for the nation so that it can compete with other countries. – The Vibes, August 6, 2023
