KUALA LUMPUR – Muhammad Faiz Na’aman has expressed his readiness to join PKR if he is invited to do so.
He made headlines earlier today when he announced his resignation as a member of the Bersatu supreme council and, simultaneously, his departure from the party.
Faiz was among the pioneer members of Bersatu, having joined in 2016.
While he cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for leaving Bersatu, he dismissed accusations that he was unhappy over not being fielded as a candidate in the upcoming six state elections.
Speaking about PKR, Faiz admitted that he is attracted to the practice of openly criticising the leadership and the inclusion of new faces within the party.
“If there is an invitation and they can accept me, I am open to it.
“This is because PKR is always pushing new faces, and they appreciate talent with potential to shine in the party.”
When asked what he can bring to the table should he be accepted to join PKR, Faiz said beyond politics, he also has experience in other fields, which would allow him to contribute to the party holistically.
“I’m still young…not only do I know this country’s history, but I also know the latest developments in politics, economics and ideologies,” he said, adding that he does not want to be viewed as just a typical politician.
Commenting on his departure from Bersatu, he said party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin did attempt to persuade him to stay, asking him to be patient.
However, Faiz said he is the type to stand by the decisions he makes.
“Within the Bersatu leadership itself, some coaxed me, some said nice things to me, and no one said anything bad. They accepted (my decision) with an open heart.” – The Vibes, August 7, 2023
