JOHOR BARU – The management of B5 Johor Street Market has confirmed that it has received instructions from the Health Ministry to close from yesterday until this Sunday.

The news about the closure notice for premises in Taman Tampoi has been viral on social media since yesterday.

“The management has taken appropriate action and worked closely with the ministry to address this issue.

“It includes ordering all premises to be closed immediately as well as carrying out sanitisation procedures periodically to ensure mutual well-being,” said the centre’s management in a statement uploaded to its official Facebook page.

The statement also said that B5 will only begin operating as usual starting December 20.

Meanwhile, state health director Datuk Dr Aman Rabu informed that the closure was made to give room for preventative work to be carried out after positive Covid-19 cases were detected at the centre.

B5, a tourist attraction popular for its food, handicraft and art offerings, is located in the vicinity of the new Johor Baru Covid-19 outbreak – the Jalan Tampoi cluster.

On December 7, the Angsana Johor Baru shopping mall located next to B5 was also instructed by the MOH to temporarily cease operations until today.

This measure was a follow-up to incidences of close contacts of Covid-19-positive patients frequenting several premises in the building. – Bernama, December 14, 2020
