MIRI – The public has been reminded not to fly drones at places on the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s itinerary during his official visit.
Sarawak police chief Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri today said unmanned aerial vehicles cannot be launched during the king’s presence at scheduled spots.
The ruler will make pitstop visits to Pan Borneo Highway rest and service centres as the royal convoy travels highway routes from September 7 to 13.
“Only official drones from agencies and departments for official duties and coverage will be allowed by the Civil Aviation Authority,” he said.
“The public will not be allowed to fly their drones during those specific periods when the Agong is around.”
Police will have a total of 1,879 personnel deployed throughout the royal visit.
“The Agong will be escorted by a convoy of 25 vehicles including security and police escorts,” he told a press conference today at the state police headquarters in Kuching.
Azman said the king and his convoy will enter Sarawak from Sabah at the Lawas checkpoint on September 7.
They will travel a journey of 1,198km along the Pan Borneo Highway to Telok Melano in southernmost Sarawak.
The king will stop in the urban centres of Lawas, Miri, Bintulu, Tatau, Sibu, Sri Aman, Kuching, and Lundu.
“Altogether, the king and convoy will pass through 12 districts,” he said.
The Agong is expected to grace the Malaysia Day celebrations on September 16, which will be hosted by state capital Kuching. – The Vibes, September 4, 2023
