PETALING JAYA - Police have launched an internal investigation into how a police officer could afford two Rolex watches.
Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) director Comm Datuk Azri Ahmad said early investigations revealed that both watches were bought using money given by his mother and late father.
The officer's late father was a successful businessman.
"JIPS will continue its investigation from several angles," Azri said in a statement today.
Earlier today, Kepong MP, Lim Lip Eng urged the police to explain how a police officer could afford luxury watches worth hundreds of thousands of ringgit.
He said this after a 41-year-old housewife was recently charged with stealing her police officer husband's luxury Rolex watches three years ago.
The estimated price for the watches stolen was RM207,000 for the Sky-Dweller and RM198,000 for the GMT Master-II 9.
Yesterday, Datuk Mou Ei Leen claimed trial in the Ipoh magistrate’s court for stealing the Rolex watches from her husband three years ago.
Under Section 380 of the Penal Code, the offence carries a maximum of 10 years imprisonment and a fine upon conviction. - The Vibes, October 14, 2023
