PETALING JAYA – Former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today denied he has anything to do with MYAirlines.

“I would like to emphasise that I have no affiliation with this airline or any of the company’s shareholders.

“I also don’t have any knowledge of the background of this company," he said in a statement.

He pointed out that MYAirlines received conditional approval of its air service licence on December 22, 2021 when he was no longer the prime minister.

“I believe certain parties are trying to tarnish my good name by making malicious accusations that I am associated with this company.

“Stop this dirty cheap politics,” he said.

He said the involvement of the law firm Rosli Dahlan Saravana Partnership as MYAirlines’ lawyer on behalf of the company’s shareholders cannot be attributed to him as RDS has the right to represent anyone who needs its legal services.

RDS is also representing Muhyiddin in his defamation suit against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

On Monday, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the operating licence of MyAirline will be temporarily suspended.

The transport minister said he was made to understand that the low-cost airline still exists but has temporarily ceased operations while seeking investors.

“That’s their commercial issue, and the authorities will temporarily suspend their licence,” he said.

MyAirline Sdn Bhd has suspended its operations from October 12 until further notice due to significant financial pressure. – The Vibes, October 18, 2023
