I AM actually extremely sad with the resignation of Xavier.
Xavier has been a comrade and a staunch supporter of the reform struggle. He was one of the founding members of Adil (Social Justice Movement) and a pioneer of PKR from day one.
He sacrificed enormously and dedicated his life for the movement. For more than two decades he was part of the leadership team that built a strong foundation for the party.
It would be unfair to simply accuse him as a traitor.
A government that survives by grasping at straws is not sustainable. The Perikatan Nasional (PN) government tries to prolong its inevitable fall by splitting and breaking up its opponents or rivals.
Using intimidation or enticement to gain an extra edge of three or four MPs is not the rightful way of securing power. Instead, it causes more uncertainty and disruption in our already turbulent national politics.
If the present government wants security and stability for the sake of public interest, the prime minister should call all parties for an inclusive consultation. The country is facing an unprecedented social and economic crisis.
All political forces, regardless of ideological persuasion, have a collective responsibility, and everyone must be part of the national reconstruction. PN cannot rule alone with a small clique while denying the voices of the majority representation.
Political stability can only be achieved through national unity. Currently, absolute power is being held by a group of splitters with no mandate. We have to unite to reject the politics of fragmentation. – The Vibes, March 13, 2021
