It is unbecoming of Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin to contradict Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador after the IGP said there was a group of young officers in the force linked to the cartels trying to humiliate and topple him.
In his rebuff against the IGP, the home minister had mentioned that there was no police cartel. Whereas in his statement during the interview with Sinar Harian on 17 March, the IGP said the young officers in the force were linked to cartels (outside) and worked towards destroying his image so that they could continue with their dirty work. Obviously, the minister did not understand what the IGP was saying, or he was clueless of what was happening in the force.
Discipline and personnel management is an internal police matter. The IGP had made a serious statement and should not be taken lightly. The IGP has his own ways of tackling the problems in the force, and the minister should not interfere.
The IGP had been trying hard to clear the image of the police force since he assumed office in 2019. Patriot has the highest regards for the IGP and supports what he is doing. We are totally disgusted with corruption that is endemic in public administration and in government.
