ON Sunday, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he was ready for criticism.

He said he did not mind taking verbal abuse from the public, and could accept it if people were to call him “stupid prime minister”.

But, there are people who say he is not stupid, only inefficient. And perhaps, it is because in his so-called “Abah” (Father) strategy, he has not roped in “Emak” (Mother).

It takes three to make a family: “abah”, “emak” and the children.

“Abah” may be the strongest pillar, but “emak” is a pillar under the shade of “abah”. Both are pillars of a family, and if anyone cracks, the family break.

And just like it takes three to make a family, it takes three to make a government: executive, legislature and judiciary.

The three are called the branches of government. We need all three for the government to function.

We cannot lock down Parliament when the other two branches are functioning.

Parliament is like “emak”. It is the second pillar of government, and especially in times of emergency, it is a pillar of strength.

The prime minister needs to rope in “Emak”. Parliament must reconvene, to stand in unity with him during these times of great difficulty.

A promise has been made to the prime minister that there will not be any call for a vote of confidence if Parliament is reconvened.

He needs to have faith that Parliament will keep to the promise – as “emak” always does. – The Vibes, May 29, 2021
