I HAVE been in contact with the Immigration Director-General Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud following an incident involving two reporters from The Vibes at the Pudu Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) this morning.
The security guard in question, I am told, is under the payroll and control of the UTC. Nonetheless, the director-general has said that an investigation is underway.
While we must allow him the time and space to conduct his inquiry, we as a media organisation will be reserving our rights and weighing our options to ensure the protection of not just our own but all members of the media.
The media must be allowed to carry out their duties and responsibilities without fear of intimidation.
From ministers to security guards, we have been on the receiving end far too many times for just doing our jobs and this sort of harassment must stop.
