NATIONAL mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei won the 2024 Korea Open title today after defeating China’s Guo Xinwa and Li Qian in three sets in Seoul.

The badminton world no. 9 pair took 58 minutes to overcome the Chinese duo, winning 17-21, 21-13, 21-13 to claim their first Super 500 series title.

They reached the final after defeating Chinese pair Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi 22-20, 21-19 yesterday in a semi-final match.

The win marks Tang Jie and Ee Wei's third final appearance this year, following their runner-up finishes in the Thailand Masters in January and the Swiss Open in March.

Later today, women's doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah will take on Korea's world no. 20 Jeong Na-eun-Kim Hye-jeong for the title. – September 1, 2024.
