KEDAH – Aidil Sharin Sahak is still contemplating whether to remain as head coach of Kedah or to move elsewhere next season.
The Singaporean revealed that Kedah Football Association (KFA) has offered him a new contract but he is also attracting interests from several local and Indonesian teams.
This comes after Aidil questioned KFA’s sincerity, due to the absence of negotiations despite his contract expiring at the end of the year.
He also revealed several teams are interested to sign him, notably Perak who recently got in contact with him.
The 43-year-old coach is also touted as the best candidate to be the successor of B. Sathiananthan, who was sacked by Selangor and currently looking for a new coach to fill the position.
Despite the interests as well as facing five months’ unpaid salary, Aidil impressively guided his team to the second place in the Super League this season, after winning four games in a row.
The performance may have convinced KFA to offer him a new contract.
“It is good to hear that there are teams that are interested in my work,” Aidil said.
“But to be honest, I have not yet received offers from clubs such as Perak and Selangor.
“The latest is that the Kedah management has seek to extend my contract but Perak and Selangor are just rumours and there is still nothing.
“Honestly, I am still discussing with my family to decide whether to stay or to go to another team.
“For now, I am only focusing on the next match (against Pahang, this Saturday) because these last three matches are very important for us to maintain the second position.
“Kedah has not been in that position for a long time, so in this week or two, I will give the answer.”
“It is true that my heart is always with Kedah but we need to look at the bigger factor because I am a coach who loves challenges.
“Indeed, I am very close to Kedah players and that is one of the factors why I am still in Kedah even though I have not been paid for five months,” he said. – Football Tribe, September 24, 2020
