MALAYSIA’S top-ranked women’s doubles partnership of Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah is set to return to international action at the Singapore Open after recovering from an injury disruption that temporarily halted their campaign on the global badminton circuit.
National women’s doubles coach Rosman Razak confirmed on Saturday that the world No. 2 combination had regained fitness, with Pearly successfully completing rehabilitation for the back injury that had raised doubts over the pair’s immediate future on tour.
“God willing, Pearly-Thinaah will play at the Singapore Open,” he said.
The Malaysian pair had previously withdrawn from the ongoing Malaysia Masters after Pearly was found not to have fully recovered from the injury she aggravated during the Badminton Asia Championships in Ningbo, China, last month.
The setback forced Pearly to undergo a period of rehabilitation and also ruled the duo out of the Uber Cup in Horsens, Denmark, depriving Malaysia of one of its most reliable women’s doubles pairings during the prestigious team event.
Their return is expected to provide a major morale boost for Malaysia’s badminton setup ahead of a packed international schedule and growing expectations surrounding the pair’s title prospects this season.
At the Singapore Open, Pearly and Thinaah will open their campaign against Taiwanese duo Hu Ling Fang and Jheng Yu Chieh in the first round as they seek to regain momentum following the enforced break.
The pair have emerged as one of the most formidable women’s doubles combinations in world badminton in recent years, consistently challenging the sport’s elite and strengthening Malaysia’s standing on the international stage.
