HARRY Kane’s reported Ballon d’Or win would end England’s 25-year wait for the men’s award, with the Bayern Munich striker’s 73 goals for club and country highlighting a season of outstanding scoring form.
The 33-year-old reportedly scored 61 goals for Bayern and 12 for England during the 2025-26 season, helping the German club secure a domestic double and finishing as the Bundesliga’s leading scorer for a third consecutive campaign.
The award would make Kane the first Englishman to win the men’s Ballon d’Or since former Liverpool striker Michael Owen in 2001.
Kane, formerly of Tottenham Hotspur, also helped England reach the World Cup semi-finals, according to the report.
At the reported ceremony in London, Kane thanked his Bayern team-mates, crediting the team’s support and internal competition for helping him improve.
“Without all of you and the whole team, this achievement would not have been possible. The way you all push me and the competition we have together means a lot. So, thank you very much,” AFP cited him saying. - October 27, 2026
