Rene is the current South Africa national Rugby team Physiotherapist and she helped the Boks win the 2019 World Cup held in Japan. Let us not forget, the Springboks lost their opening pool game against New Zealand. At that time many thought they were finished, but the team led by coach Rassie Erasmus made some changes in the line-up, switched match tactics, and through Rene’s care - avoided any major injuries for the remainder of the competition.
After the loss against the All Blacks, the Boks played some terrific tactical Rugby, which got them to the final where they absolutely outplayed England.
If you think Rene told me all this during our interview, think again. Rene speaks extremely well and is so humble about her contributions. She credits the team’s attitude and philosophy of “staying together” as the key ingredient that won South Africa the 2019 William Webb Ellis Trophy.
