KUALA LUMPUR – The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) has called on all its stakeholders to adhere to the directives and standard operating procedures (SOP) announced by the government in compliance with the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

The OCM Executive Board, chaired by its president Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria today, has taken note of the decision to implement CMCO in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya as announced by Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday.

“We urge all national sports associations (NSA), athletes and officials to adhere to the directives and SOPs as announced,” OCM secretary-general Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin Najib said in a statement.

“In view of the current COVID-19 pandemic and the resurgence of cases, OCM is studying ways to further assist our members, athletes and Wisma OCM tenants. This includes the possibility of financial assistance which will be discussed by the OCM Trust Management Committee and a potential restructure of rental for our tenants,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mohd Nazifuddin said the board has also decided to seek further feedback from the OCM Selection Committee who will be meeting post-CMCO on the reviewed proposed changes to the 2021 Vietnam SEA Games selection criteria, taking into consideration the strategy of sending young athletes to the Games.

On the OCM constitution review, he said the Constitution Review Committee has agreed on the principal changes and is currently reviewing the language of the proposed new constitution. – Bernama, October 14, 2020
