THE silver medallist at the recent Tokyo Olympics, Namibia's Christine Mboma, ran an incredible race at the World Athletics U-20 Championship in Nairobi when she clocked 9.86 seconds while running the last leg in the 4x100m final on Sunday.
Her sensational time would actually have won her the bronze medal in the men's 100m at the Tokyo Olympics.
Namibia registered a national U-20 record time of 43.76 in the event, while Jamaica won the gold medal with a world record time of 42.94 for the age group.
There have been calls for Mboma to go through a sex-affirming test because some cannot believe a person who can run her times "definitely is a woman."
Mboma had won gold in the women's 200m event on Saturday and in the semi-final she registered 22.41sec to break the U-20 world record before compatriot Beatrice Masilingi went 0.22sec quicker in her own qualifier. - Agencies. August 23, 2021
