JOHOR BAHRU – Kedah Darul Aman (KDA) FC are optimistic that a new stadium for their players will be able to put them on par with eight-time Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT).

FA of Kedah president Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the stadium, which would be built in Sungai Petani, would also incorporate a training centre for KDA FC players.

He was also brimming with confidence that KDA FC, who have received “new touches” from patron Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar, will reach greater heights.

“Our team has received ‘new touches’, thanks to cooperation from Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar who has built a good team.

“We are preparing a site in Sungai Petani to build a stadium which will be a new home for the team. I am confident that the efforts we are pouring in will one day make KDA FC equal to JDT. Even if we can’t better them, to be at the same level is ok,” he told a press conference after launching PAS’ election machinery for the Pulai parliamentary constituency here today.

The Kedah Menteri Besar said this when asked to comment on the latest developments involving KDA FC.

KDA FC had uploaded their “Club Prospectus 2022” on their official website, which stated that the club have a future project to build a new stadium worth RM70 million.

Apart from the stadium, a training ground would also be built at a cost of RM20 million.

Sanusi hoped the construction of the stadium can begin this year. – Bernama, February 12, 2022
