KUALA LUMPUR – Footballers just can’t seem to catch a break. They get yelled at when they lose, and sometimes when they win.

In a video that has made its round on social media, a Selangor FC fan can be seen shouting at his supported team player despite The Red Giants thumping Kedah Darul Aman FC 4-1 yesterday in a Super League match at the Petaling Jaya Stadium.

The Selangor fans were seemingly angered at the defensive line for conceding a single goal in the final minutes of the match.

The video was uploaded to ROTP’s Facebook page where the fan can be seen sitting at the edge of the stands, hurling abusive words toward Selangor captain Muhammad Safuwan Baharudin.

“Safuwan, don’t be so arrogant!

“That’s why you concede goals because of your attitude!

“If you want to be champion, yet concede 30 goals like last season, no way are you a champion!” the fan can be heard hollering.

Selangor won in superb style with a goal coming from midfielder Muhammad Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi, two goals by Herlison Caion De Souza Ferreira, and another from substitute Mohd Nor Hakim Hassan.

Mohd Fayadh Mohd Zulkifli Amin gave Kedah its consolation goal in injury time.

However, the insults did not break the spirit of Safuwan who took to his Instagram account to show support for his players.

“As long as Brendon Gan, the real team captain is not yet back on the field, I will always try my very best to protect the players on and off the field.

“But if incidents such as those of last night occur, it is very disappointing for me.

“Words that come out from your mouth say so many things about you as a person.

“Let’s all move on from here, keep supporting the team no matter what. At the end of the day, we are all humans.

“Be positive always. I forgive you,” the Singaporean national player said.

This is Selangor’s first win this season after two draws in the earlier games. – The Vibes, April 11, 2022.
