KUALA LUMPUR – National diver Ooi Tze Liang gives Malaysia its third gold medal today in the men’s individual 1m springboard event at the 2022 Hanoi SEA Games.
He scored a total of 377.70 points with a breakdown of the points being 59.80, 62.40, 66.00, 57.00, 64.50, 68.00 at the My Dinh Aquatics centre.
Singapore’s Avvir Tham Pac Lun came in second and won silver with a total of 286.40 points.
Sarawak-born Betrand Rodhict Anak Lises gave it his all and clinched the bronze medal with a total score of 284.90, giving Malaysia a total of five medals in the games so far.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Tze Liang said he was proud of his achievement.
“This is my first gold for this event and12th SEA Games medal in total.
“I have gotten a medal for all the diving events, so mission accomplished,” he said.
As a seasoned diver, he advised young divers to continue with their efforts in the sport.
“Good job to Betrand Rodhict for getting bronze.
“I hope all the juniors will improve and most importantly they never give up,” he added.
Yesterday, Ooi Tze Liang along with partner Chew Yi Wei won in the men’s synchronised 3m springboard and gave Malaysia its second gold. – The Vibes, May 9, 2022
