KUALA LUMPUR – The fourth edition of the Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament makes its return this year on July 23 at the Seri Selangor Golf Club (KGSS) in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

Speaking at a press conference announcing the tournament, Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Azrul Shah Mohamad said they organise tournaments in different locations each year, inspired by the concept of “Pusing Selangor Dulu” (“Circle around Selangor First”).

“This year, we chose KGSS as the official venue for our fourth tournament. This is also a way to show support for the Petaling Jaya City Council, which is also celebrating its 16th anniversary this year.

“With the ‘Pusing Selangor Dulu’ idea, we encourage participants to not only demonstrate their golfing skills, but also visit the tourism sites around the golf course we choose,” he said.

Azrul said as Selangor is home to 29 golf clubs and several award-winning courses among them, the state has a clear path to optimal sports tourist penetration.

“Selangor is Malaysia’s leading and premier golf hub, and is a popular destination for both local and international golfers looking for a little adrenaline and excitement on the course, surrounded by lush greenery.

“A total of 120 golfers are expected to participate this year, including representatives from the public and private sectors, well-known golfing celebrities, as well as golfers from across the country and beyond,” he added.

Aside from the chance to win several categories in the tournament, golfers participating can look forward to winning the lucrative prizes in the lucky draw session held during the event, as well as the prize for the Hole-In-One category, which is a Perodua Ativa.

“I hope this tournament will help the golf industry by promoting and leveraging the 29 identified golf courses in Selangor to become the most prominent courses for both domestic and international markets, especially during the current endemic phase.

“Keep the enthusiasm in this well-loved sport going as Selangor welcomes all for more rounds of golf at the many courses across the state,” Azrul added.
