KUALA LUMPUR – Kuala Lumpur FC left frustrated over the incident that happened after the match between the home fans and PSM Makassar fans.

Speaking to The Vibes, KLFC chief executive officer Stanley Bernard said that it is frustrating that the incident stole the club’s limelight after winning the match against PSM Makassar in a final match.

“I am disappointed with what happened and condemn those acts. These things have no place in football and only tarnishes the game.

“As a club, we are looking at other ways to improve the resources we have at our disposal to ensure this does not happen again.

“But it is frustrating because we have done everything to the best of our abilities and no incidents occurred within the stadium grounds. There was nothing wrong with the 90 minutes of football that night,” he added.

At the same time, Stanley said that the stadium’s management had taken the necessary safety precautions before the match to avoid any untoward incident from happening.

“We had already strengthened police presence around the stadium. We ensured that there were enough personnel stationed around the venue after the match.

“We even segregated the fans when they exited the stadium, allowing them to leave the stands according to home and away sides. The entire process was well organised, and no issues occurred inside the Cheras Stadium,” he said.

As the reported incident occurred outside the venue, Stanley said the matter is now in the hands of the authorities, and KLFA president Khalid Abdul Samad had lodged a police report regarding the incident.

“The confrontation happened almost an hour after the match ended, and it was on the street which is not under the supervision of KLFC or KLFA but the KL City Council. That is why it is a police matter,” he said.

Earlier, several video clips had gone viral on social media, depicting scenes of the commotion and fights that occurred outside the Cheras Stadium.

Federal Reserve Unit personnel could also be seen in the video trying to break up the fights.
