KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s top tower runner Soh Wai Ching is slated to race in New York’s Empire State Building again on October 6 to defend the elite men’s division title he clinched last year.
In a statement, Wai Ching noted that the date in the landmark building will be one of the four races that he will be competing in over the span of nine days from September 30 to October 8.
“Wai Ching vowed to do his best so he could proudly wave the Malaysian flag on the global stage," a statement issued by his personal assistant, Jennifer Chan Yee Chin, read.
“He also wished to inspire everyone to believe in themselves and work towards achieving their dreams through faith and hard work.”
Apart from the Empire State Building, Wai Ching will be competing in three tower running competitions in the US, comprising the US Bank Tower in Los Angeles on September 30, Seattle’s Space Needle tower on October 2, and the One Tampa City Center in Florida on October 8.
In celebrating his birthday today, Wai Ching also made a wish to win all the competitions and break course records.
The 28-year-old became the first Asian to win the 2021 Empire State Building Run-up after scaling 86 floors in 10 minutes and 47 seconds.
Following his achievements, Wai Ching received sponsorships from the Better Malaysia Foundation and Petaling Jaya City Council.
The athlete was also appointed as the ambassador of the city council and received a total sponsorship of RM100,000. – The Vibes, September 28, 2022
