KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian MotoGP is finally back! After a two-year absence, the long-awaited GP is back in Sepang from October 21 to 23.
But before the riders hit the track this weekend, they first hit the trails at Taman Tugu Negara for a day of activities and to do their part in protecting the environment.
Yamaha RNF riders Darryn Binder and Cal Crutchlow alongside Moto2 rider Manuel Gonzalez and Moto3 riders Diogo Moreira and Syarifuddin Azman, better known as Damok, were present for a tree-planting session at the Taman Tugu Negara Nursery.
The riders hiked along the trails to a location where they planted saplings together in an effort to show their commitment to caring for the environment.
The fun did not stop there, as in the afternoon, riders Luca Marini, Sean Dylan Kelly, Riccardo Rossi, Ayumu Sasaki and Damok were back in action at the KLCC Esplanade for a special Tebar & Tarik session organised by Petronas.
Testing their skills at making an iconic Malaysian staple – roti canai – the riders competed to see who could make the most number of roti canai under a certain time.
In the end, it was hometown hero Damok and Sasaki who won the contest as they made more roti canai that were considered “well made”.
This weekend could also see Italy’s Francesco Bagnaia possibly win his maiden MotoGP world championship.
Previously, it was announced that more than 50% of the Malaysian MotoGP tickets have been sold. – The Vibes, October 19, 2022
