SHAH ALAM – Selangor FC fans have much to celebrate as the team unveiled their new jersey for the 2023 season alongside fresh import players.
At the SACC Mall here today, The Red Giants announced the arrival of Colombian Ayron del Valle, who just arrived in Malaysia earlier this morning, as their most recent import.
Joining Ayron at the event were two other fresh imports – Noor Al-Rawabdeh from Jordan and Ghanaian Rauf Salifu – and all three donned the new kits, which takes inspiration from the iconic Shah Alam Stadium.
In a statement, Selangor FC chief executive officer Johan Kamal Hamidon said the stadium was selected as the kit’s theme as it symbolises the spirit of togetherness and strength of the people of Selangor and the team.

“After various discussion sessions were held, the state government finally decided to redevelop the Shah Alam Stadium through the Shah Alam Sports Complex Development Project.
“Therefore, we feel that this is the best time for us to immortalise the memory of this stadium and concurrently make this moment a starting point to kickstart a more glorious new chapter for the team and the state of Selangor,” he said.
The new jersey also uses red as the main colour to display courage, strength and the team’s high spirit, while the colour of “sand” was used as the secondary colour because it is a component of concrete that was used to build the stadium façade and foundation.
The main symbol at the back of the jersey displays an external view of the shape of the Shah Alam Stadium, while the front view of the stadium is applied to the collar and sleeves.

Meanwhile, new arrival Ayron, who was greeted by fans at the event, said he initially was unsure whether to accept the offer from Selangor.
“But after learning more about the club, I realised that it was the best opportunity and challenge for me to face and help the team win (trophies) this season.
“I also spoke to the club’s management, and I believe their plans have piqued my interest in coming here,” said the 34-year-old who has scored 157 goals so far in his career.
