KUALA LUMPUR – “Spectre Fight Night: The Future” a hip-hop and boxing event recently held saw 21 bouts between Malaysian boxers alongside performances by promising Malaysian artists.
Organised by Spectre Promotion, the event was held on January 28 from 12pm to 11.40pm at Homebois Pitstop, Petaling Jaya.
The organising company said in a statement that all the fighters are homegrown Malaysians who have the passion for the sport.
They also competed for the chance to be part of Spectre Promotion’s headline event, the Spectre Fight Championship (SFC), where they will be competing for RM5,000 and the SFC Belt, while other boxing events will be organised leading up to the main event.
During the event, the boxing bouts included state and national professional fighters Arfiqanie Ahmad Anshori, Kairul Azim, and Firdaus Muhammad.
The line-up for also consisted of a mix of fighters, from first-time fighters, amateurs, veterans like Awie Tok Sheikh, and King Shah.
Meanwhile, the music performances was a roster full of young and talented Malaysian artists including ChronicalZ, ForceParkBois, Fuego & Pele L, DC Willie & SophiaRazk, and Citybois.
“These artists have been blazing a trail in the underground hip-hop scene and have garnered their own respective following and are already carving a legacy with their music,” the statement said.
Spectre Promotion founder Ijam “50 Caliber” Asri, who has combat experience of his own, said he wishes to see the rise of combat sports in Malaysia.
“I aim to facilitate those who are passionate and interested in the sport by providing a platform for them to grow,” he said.
Ijam, who has competed in various mixed martial-arts competitions, is currently pursuing his boxing career as a professional boxer with a semi-pro record of three wins and no losses, along with a mixed martial-arts record of 11 wins and three losses. – The Vibes, February 2, 2023.
