SHAH ALAM – The Covid-19 community screening programme organised by the Selangor government has benefited more than 14,000 individuals throughout the state since its introduction in April last year.

According to Selcare Clinic Sdn Bhd manager Mohd Noor Md Nasir, the total comes from its drive-thru services and large-scale screening programme conducted in several red zones.

It is estimated that between 7,000 and 8,000 individuals have been screened via the Antigen Rapid Test Kit (RTK-Ag) method, which was first used in six locations in December last year .

The state government started the free Covid-19 screening programme from April 11 last year to complement Health Ministry efforts in bringing the virus under control and identify high-risk groups, especially elderly folk who do not show any symptom.

According to the Selangor Covid-19 Task Force, the programme has also been held in Klang and Petaling Jaya.

Its community affairs administrative officer, Dr Nurul Solihin Nurul Hasnan, said the series of community testing is carried out due to the high number of coronavirus infections reported in Selangor, with many of its districts categorised as red zones.
