IRANIAN President Masoud Pezeshkian has asserted that rights granted to nations under international law “cannot be taken away through war and threats,” Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported on Saturday.
In a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s readiness for dialogue and cooperation aimed at fostering international confidence in its nuclear programme, while firmly rejecting any demands that it cease uranium enrichment.
“At the same time, our response to the Zionist regime’s aggression will be even more forceful and resolute,” Bernama-Anadolu cited him saying,, as reported by Iran’s state-run Press TV.
“Iran is prepared for negotiations to resolve issues, but any discussions or preconditions will only be accepted if they align with the rights and norms recognised under international law.”
Hostilities between Iran and Israel erupted on 13 June, when Israeli airstrikes targeted multiple locations within Iran, including military and nuclear facilities. Tehran responded with retaliatory strikes, escalating an already volatile situation in the region.
According to figures from Iran’s Health Ministry, the Israeli assault has so far resulted in 430 fatalities and left more than 3,500 people injured. - June 22, 2025
