A MID-AIR brawl broke out onboard a flight, believed to be operated by AirAsia, from Kuala Lumpur to Chengdu, China, according to foreign reports.
The saga erupted shortly after the flight took off from Kuala Lumpur at 6.11pm on Monday when a male passenger reportedly urged three women sitting near him to quieten down.
The trio refused and carried on talking loudly, prompting the frustrated male passenger to fume: “Shut up. Are you stupid? I want to sleep.”
Footage from the flight shows a woman in green and a baseball cap leaning over the seat and repeatedly punching the man, who shielded himself behind his tray table.
The flight crew could then be seen frantically trying to separate those involved as emergency lights flickered throughout the cabin.
The flight landed safely at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport at 10.13pm, where police were waiting to question those involved.
A passenger who recorded the incident said the fight broke out midway through the four-hour journey when the women ignored requests to lower their voices.
She added that one woman’s mother joined the argument and two women physically attacked the man, blaming cabin crew for not defusing the situation earlier.
Authorities from the Airport Public Security Bureau of the Sichuan Provincial Public Security Department have since launched an investigation.
The report said it is unclear if any arrests have been made. - July 23, 2025
