SINGAPORE – Fourteen people were injured including five of them with “more serious injuries” in an accident involving two buses in Singapore today.
The accident took place at the Bukit Batok bus interchange, according to Bukit Batok MP Murali Pillai on Facebook.
“One bus was pulling into the interchange whereas the other bus was pulling out. The impact caused one of the buses to mount a kerb and fall to its side,” he wrote.
However, he wrote further that “none suffered life threatening injuries”.
Murali, who also appended his posting with a photo at the scene, noted that the matter will be investigated by the authorities.
He thanked Singapore Civil Defence Force officers for their swift response and attention to the victims.
Meanwhile, The Straits Times reported that the buses were operated by Tower Transit.
Quoting a spokesman for the operator, the report said 16 people were involved in the accident, two drivers and 14 passengers, of whom, all 14 passengers were on the bus that flipped.
The other bus was not carrying any passengers when the accident occurred at about 5pm, it reported.
The report said that the spokesman could not confirm the extent of injuries suffered by those involved but those who needed treatment were taken to hospital. – Bernama, July 11, 2021
