JAKARTA – A shipment of medicine and medical equipment arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Indonesia yesterday – a donation from Turkey to help the Southeast Asian nation fight Covid-19.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry in a statement said the medical aid consists of 50 ventilators and 600,000 boxes of medicine, reported Anadolu Agency.

“The medicine and medical equipment will be distributed to health facilities in various regions of Indonesia.”

This donation will further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries, it added.

Indonesia and Turkey will commemorate 71 years of diplomatic relations this year.

So far, Indonesia has recorded 3.6 million coronavirus cases and 107,096 deaths, while 2,084,702 patients have recovered.

The figures make it the country that is most affected by the pandemic in Asean. – Bernama, August 9, 2021
