Moderate quake hits South Sumatera, no tsunami threat to M’sia

KUALA LUMPUR – A moderate earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale hit South Sumatera in Indonesia at 10.12pm.

According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the quake with a depth of 61km struck 118km northwest of Siberut.

However, it did not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia, the statement said. – Bernama, March 14, 2022
