LBS BINA Group Berhad has secured RM88.4 million in green financing from Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad to support the development of a large-scale solar farm in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan.

The funding, channelled through LBS subsidiary Suria Hijauan Sdn Bhd, will cover the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) costs of the 43 megawatt peak (MWp) solar energy project under the Corporate Green Power Programme. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Executive Chairman of LBS, Tan Sri Ir (Dr) Lim Hock San, said the solar farm is projected to provide a steady and recurring income stream, strengthening the group’s long-term earnings resilience and sustainability agenda.

"This green financing represents a significant milestone in our efforts to expand our renewable energy portfolio and further our commitment to sustainability.

"The successful securing of a credit facility from a reputable institution such as Alliance Bank reflects the strong potential of our renewable energy ventures, as well as our ability to scale such initiatives effectively.

"This support demonstrates confidence in our strategic direction and financial strength, and it facilitates the smooth implementation of this project," he said in a statement on Monday.

According to Lim, the solar facility is expected to generate approximately 53,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of clean energy annually and offset around 35,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

LBS has appointed Atlantic Blue Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Solarvest Holdings Berhad, as the EPCC contractor under a RM104 million agreement. The firm brings substantial expertise in delivering utility-scale solar projects.

"This initiative not only aligns with our aspiration to make a positive environmental impact but also strategically complements our core property development business by integrating future-ready solutions in renewable energy.

"It also contributes to Malaysia’s broader carbon reduction goals and supports the country’s transition toward a low-carbon economy," Lim added.

Alliance Bank Group CEO Kelle Kam said financial institutions have a critical role to play in advancing sustainable development.

"We are pleased to work with LBS, a company whose values and vision align with ours.

"Today’s announcement marks more than just the launch of a project—it is the beginning of a journey and a purpose we are proud to be part of," Kam said. - June 9, 2025
