KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia resumed the afternoon session higher, thanks to positive market sentiment.
At 3.09pm, the benchmark FBM KLCI climbed 18.37 points or 1.13% to 1,650.29.
Overall market breadth was positive as gainers trumped losers 748 to 382, while 666 counters were unchanged, 352 untraded and 38 others suspended.
Volume stood at 4.43 billion units worth RM2.19 billion.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank rose eight sen to RM8.48, Public Bank increased 24 sen to RM20.70, Tenaga and Hartalega bagged 12 sen each to RM10.70 and RM12.72, respectively, and Petronas Chemicals advanced nine sen to RM7.50.
Additionally, Top Glove perked three sen to RM6.72, while IHH Healthcare was flat at RM5.65.
Among the actives, Techna-X and AirAsia X added one sen each to 15.5 sen and eight sen, respectively, FGV bagged 10 sen to RM1.25, while Jiakun lost 10 sen to 58.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index was 131.36 points higher at 11,840.82, the FBMT 100 Index garnered 131.36 points to 11,840.82, the FBM Emas Shariah Index advanced 131.45 points to 13,312.79, the FBM 70 increased 156.43 points to 15,064.22, and the FBM ACE chalked up 136.35 points to 10,613.56.
The Industrial Products and Services Index perked 2.03 points to 174.52, the Plantation Index picked up 90.18 points to 7,371.63 and the Financial Services Index surged 170.8 points to 15,320.24. – Bernama, December 23, 2020
