CHINA Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC) has reaffirmed its strong commitment to Malaysia, signalling a deepening of its involvement in the nation’s infrastructure sector, which it views as pivotal to long-term regional connectivity.

"China and Malaysia are good neighbours in Asia, and we have frequent communication at all levels and regular exchanges in socio-economic development. This gives us many opportunities to cooperate," Bernama cited Cai Chuansheng, Executive General Manager of CCCC's International Business Department, saying during a meeting with the Malaysian media delegation at the company’s Beijing headquarters.

CCCC, one of the world’s largest construction companies, regards Malaysia as a key strategic partner in Southeast Asia. Cai noted that the group is actively seeking new investment avenues and expanding its presence through its subsidiary, China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd (CHEC).

“Moving forward, we hope to strengthen our cooperation and undertake more projects – including major ones – in Malaysia, contributing CCCC’s professional capabilities to building an even more beautiful Malaysia,” he added.

CHEC has been operating in Malaysia for over four decades and has completed infrastructure projects valued at approximately US$20 billion. Notable contributions include the Penang Second Bridge, the LRT Ampang Line Extension, and the MRT Sentul West Underground Station. The company also maintains expertise in marine engineering, dredging, reclamation and highway development.

Currently, CCCC is leading the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), Malaysia’s largest project under the Belt and Road Initiative. Slated for completion in December 2026, the 665km railway will connect the East Coast states with the Klang Valley. As the engineering, procurement and construction contractor, CCCC is overseeing project design, financing, and full construction delivery.

Cai highlighted that Malaysia’s stable economic fundamentals and continued infrastructure push make it an attractive destination for foreign investment.

Globally, CCCC operates in over 158 countries and has delivered signature projects such as the Mombasa–Nairobi Railway in Kenya, the Sukkur–Multan Highway in Pakistan, the China–Maldives Friendship Bridge, the China–Laos Railway, and the Port City development in Sri Lanka. - June 23, 2025
